Are you a driven and strategic business development professional with a passion for healthcare? We are looking for an enthusiastic Business Development Manager (BDM) to play a pivotal role in our client's ambitious business growth plan. If you thrive on identifying new opportunities, building valuable relationships, and making a real impact in the industry, this could be the perfect role for you!
Our client is a challenger in the medical indemnity insurance space, aiming to double it's member base of health professionals. As a key part of their growth plan, you'll design and execute strategies that will help them expand market reach, acquire new insured members, and create lasting partnerships in the healthcare sector.
Role
Reporting to the CEO who is based in Auckland, you will assist him in:
1. Driving Strategic Growth

Develop and execute a comprehensive business development plan aligned with the company's five-year growth objectives.

Identify high-potential markets and regions, focusing efforts on both new and under-served sectors.

Conduct market analysis to uncover opportunities and gaps, helping to refine the growth strategy.

Set clear milestones and action plans to achieve specific growth targets, while continuously tracking progress.

Stay ahead of market trends and competitor movements to ensure strategies are adaptable and effective.
2. Building Key Relationships & Stakeholder Engagement

Cultivate and maintain relationships with medical colleges, regulatory bodies, and healthcare employers.

Lead exciting partnership discussions, creating co-branded activities like CPD events, webinars, and other collaborative initiatives.

Represent our client at industry meetings, forums, and events, ensuring they are positioned as a thought leader in the field.
3. Outreach and Acquisition

Develop and execute creative and effective outreach campaigns targeting professionals who could benefit from the service.

Engage with prospects via direct calls, emails, virtual meetings, and events to build interest and trust.

Deliver tailored one-on-one consultations and group presentations that highlight the unique value our client provides.
4. CRM and Pipeline Management

Keep a detailed and organised record of all leads and communications using CRM tools, tracking progress through each stage of the engagement process.

Analyse performance metrics, track KPIs, and produce regular pipeline reports for the management team.
5. Collaboration Across Teams

Work closely with Marketing and Legal teams to ensure that sales tools and collateral meet sector-specific needs.

Provide valuable feedback to help shape product development and inform marketing strategies.
6. Representation and Brand Advocacy

Represent the client at conferences, webinars, and industry events, both as an attendee and a presenter.

Manage the company's presence at events and leverage these opportunities to gather leads and insights for future engagement.
Skills, and Expereince:
Essential Experience:
-
At least 5 years of experience in business development, B2B sales, or relationship management, ideally in insurance, healthcare, or financial services.

Proven success in achieving growth targets and managing sales pipelines.

Comfortable navigating regulated industries with an understanding of compliance requirements.
Desirable Experience:
-
Experience in the healthcare sector, especially with medical associations or health organisations.

Familiarity with the structure and dynamics of the New Zealand medical profession.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency with CRM platforms (preferably Zoho CRM).

Strong computer skills, including MS Office and virtual presentation tools (Zoom, MS Teams).

Strategic thinker with the ability to turn long-term goals into actionable plans.

Self-motivated and proactive, comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and explain complex topics to professional audiences.
