Role Overview:

As a key member of the management team, the Business Manager – Acute Care, Diagnostics & Medical Consumables is crucial to the success of the business. This role will lead the business unit, driving strategies for profitability, growth, and long-term expansion. You'll manage a team of product specialists, oversee product management, and ensure that business objectives align with the overall strategic direction.  Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director.
 
Key Responsibilities:
P&L Management & Strategy Development

  • Lead the development of annual business plans and budgets, covering sales, gross profit, and expense control.
  • Create sales strategies to meet revenue targets and align all territory plans to the business unit's goals.
  • Develop marketing campaigns to foster business growth.
  • Assist the Sales & Marketing Director with board reporting on sales results and commercial updates.
  • Oversee pricing for non-contract products and collaborate on tender processes.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and inspire a team of product specialists, ensuring that territory plans are executed effectively.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to drive team effectiveness.
  • Cascade strategic direction and set KPIs for the team.
  • Foster staff recruitment, development, and succession planning to attract and retain top talent
Product Management & Market Knowledge
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of market trends that impact the business unit.
  • Manage the marketing plan, ensuring that marketing expenditures are within budget.
  • Ensure all product training and launches align with the business unit's objectives and regulatory standards.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong relationships with key healthcare professionals, suppliers, and decision-makers.
  • Lead the renewal of supplier distribution agreements and identify new growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with key accounts and business managers to maximise sales opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Science, Marketing, Management).
  • 5+ years of experience in the healthcare sector, with team management experience.
  • Experience in multinational organisations is desirable.
  • Proven track record in sales management, building relationships, and executing strategic business plans.
  • No visa restrictions – candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
