Product Specialist – Healthcare | Wellington

Build the territory. Find the opportunities. Make an impact.

An great opportunity has arisen for an experienced healthcare sales professional to join a well-established New Zealand healthcare company in a key Wellington-based Product Specialist role.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being out in the market — developing relationships, uncovering opportunities and finding solutions for customers. While healthcare knowledge is important, success in this position will come down to your commercial drive, personality and ability to make things happen.

The Role

As a key team member, reporting to the Business Manager, you will manage a specialised portfolio, primarily focused on Anaesthetic Consumables (85%) and Cardiac Diagnostic Equipment (15%). Your field-based role covers key accounts throughout Wellington and the lower North Island including
Hawkes Bay, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Gisborne

You will work with clinicians, nursing teams, procurement professionals and other key healthcare stakeholders, managing established accounts while actively identifying opportunities to grow the business.

This is not a role for someone who simply maintains a territory. We are looking for someone who will get out there, ask the right questions, identify opportunities and follow them through.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take ownership of your territory and actively drive its growth.
  • Develop new business opportunities while strengthening existing customer relationships.
  • Build trusted relationships across clinical, procurement and hospital stakeholder groups.
  • Understand customer challenges and provide practical, solutions-focused recommendations.
  • Develop and implement effective territory and account plans.
  • Introduce and support new products within the market.
  • Work autonomously in Wellington while remaining closely connected to a supportive national team.
  • Represent the business with professionalism, energy and a strong customer focus.

What We're Looking For

For this role, personality, attitude and commercial drive are just as important as previous sales experience.

You may already be working in medical device or hospital consumable sales, or you may be an experienced healthcare professional — such as an Anaesthetic Technician or Theatre Nurse — who is ready to make the move into a commercial career.

You will ideally bring:
  • A positive, enthusiastic and engaging personality with the confidence to build strong relationships across hospital environments.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in healthcare sales and the motivation to learn, grow and take ownership of a territory.
  • Resilience and persistence — this is a territory with real growth potential, and you will need the energy and determination to develop new opportunities and keep moving things forward.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect naturally with clinicians, customers and colleagues at all levels.
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach with the confidence to identify opportunities and build business.
  • Self-motivation and the maturity to work independently while remaining a collaborative and supportive member of the wider team.
  • A solutions-focused approach and the ability to remain positive and adaptable when challenges arise.
  • A professional, constructive approach to working with others and a genuine desire to contribute to a positive team culture.
Previous hospital consumable or medical device sales experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Likewise, you do not need to be highly technical from day one — the product and clinical knowledge can be taught.
What matters most is that you bring enthusiasm, resilience, initiative, commercial curiosity and the personality to build trusted customer relationships and grow the territory.

Why Join?

You will be joining a respected New Zealand healthcare organisation with an established product portfolio, excellent customer service and an experienced and supportive management team.

The package includes:
  • $100,000–$110,000 base salary
  • Car allowance
  • Generous commission structure
  • Additional company benefits and initiatives
  • The autonomy to make the Wellington territory your own
  • Support from an experienced national team
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, developing business and building long-term relationships within the healthcare market.

Please Note: Only candidates who have the legal right to work in New Zealand will be considered for this role. Due to the volume of applications, we will only be able to respond to candidates who meet the required criteria.
