Auckland Based
$130,000–$150,000 base salary + car allowance + fuel card + incentive scheme

Are you an experienced medical device sales professional looking for a role that offers more than traditional territory management?

This is an opportunity to combine your clinical sales expertise with genuine commercial and strategic responsibility, working closely with the Surgical Business Unit Manager to drive the growth and performance of an established surgical portfolio.

We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Product Specialist who enjoys being in front of customers but also wants to contribute to the bigger picture — from pricing strategies and supplier relationships through to business reviews, team training and portfolio development.

The Opportunity

This is a unique hybrid role combining hands-on surgical sales with broader commercial and strategic responsibilities.

You will manage an established customer base across Auckland Central, with travel to Hawke's Bay and Gisborne, developing strong relationships with surgeons, clinical teams and hospital stakeholders.

Your customers will include general surgeons and specialists across gynaecology, urology, breast surgery, bariatric surgery and other general surgical disciplines.

Alongside your territory responsibilities, you will work closely with the Surgical Business Unit Manager to support the commercial direction, profitability and ongoing development of the surgical portfolio.

What You'll Be Doing

Sales & Customer Relationships

  • Manage and grow relationships with surgeons, theatre teams, procurement and hospital stakeholders.
  • Drive sales performance and identify opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
  • Provide clinical and technical product support, including attending surgical procedures when required.
  • Deliver product presentations, education and training to customers.
  • Develop new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts.
Commercial & Strategic Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Surgical Business Unit Manager on portfolio strategy, growth initiatives and commercial planning.
  • Contribute to pricing strategies, commercial proposals and profitability.
  • Participate in supplier meetings, business reviews and performance discussions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and business partners.
  • Analyse sales performance, market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support new product introductions and portfolio development.

Training & Team Development
  •  Coordinate and facilitate product training for the wider sales team.
  • Act as a senior product resource, sharing clinical knowledge and commercial insights.
  • Work collaboratively with sales colleagues to support customer engagement and business development.
  • Help build product confidence and capability across the team.

About You
  • We are looking for an established medical device sales professional who brings strong clinical credibility, commercial acumen and the confidence to contribute at a strategic level.
  • Ideally, you will have:
  • Significant experience in surgical or medical device sales.
  • Established relationships within hospital and surgical environments.
  • A strong understanding of surgical procedures, clinical products and the needs of surgeons and theatre teams.
  • A proven track record of achieving sales results and developing customer relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of pricing, margins and business performance.
  • The ability to engage confidently with suppliers and senior healthcare stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting product training, business planning or portfolio management.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to operate with autonomy.
You will be equally comfortable engaging with a surgeon in theatre, discussing commercial opportunities with a supplier or contributing to a strategic business review.

What's on Offer?
  • $130,000–$150,000 base salary, depending on experience.
  • Car allowance and fuel card.
  • Incentive scheme – 3.5%.
  • An established customer base across Auckland Central, Hawke's Bay and Gisborne.
  • A genuine hybrid position combining clinical sales with commercial strategy.
  • The opportunity to work closely with the Surgical Business Unit Manager and influence business decisions.
  • Exposure to supplier management, pricing, business planning and portfolio development.
  • A supportive team environment with the autonomy to make a real impact.
